Victor Surbek was a Swiss artist born on February 7th, 1885 in Bern and passed away on February 9th, 1975 in Aarau. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva and then at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. He began his career as a painter, but later focused on creating lithographs and woodcuts.
Surbek’s work was influenced by Swiss nature and landscapes, and he became known for his depictions of Alpine scenery, which he often executed in a modern style. His work was exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in Switzerland and beyond, and he won several awards for his work.
Surbek was also involved in the art world as a teacher, including at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. He was a significant member of the Swiss artists’ association ‘Allianz’, and his work is still appreciated and collected by art enthusiasts around the world.
